Trained Installer for Installation of Air-conditioning Unit

A trained air-conditioning unit installer is an individual certified by the Building and Construction Authority to carry out air-conditioning unit installation works.

As per , only a trained air-conditioning unit installer can install any air-conditioning unit on the exterior of any building or which projects outwards from any building.

Installation requirements and duties of the trained air-conditioning unit installer

As per Regulation 41C of the Building Control Regulations 2003, the trained air-conditioning unit installer must:

  • Install a structural support system that complies with specifications listed under . Exceptions may be allowed with prior written approval from the Commissioner of Building Control (BCA) or if he has complied with  (for HDB flats only).
  • Submit a report of the installation works no later than 14 days after completion to the Commissioner of Building Control (BCA). Use Form AC-01 for private properties and Form AC-02 for HDB flats.

Failure to do so may result in a penalty of up to $5,000 or jail term of up to six months or to both.
